1998 Vespa T5 Classic review from United Kingdom

"Wouldn't part it for the world!!!"

What things have gone wrong with the motorcycle?

Engine partially seized due to the clutch housing having crack in it.

Clutch blew when a new racing kit was placed in it. Rectified with a re-inforced clutch and stronger plates.

Body work rusting around the floor mats and the centre housing.

Parts dear due to the scootering scene and return of the original scooterist's.

Speed cable is constantly breaking.

Original seat is not comfortable at all.

General comments?

It may break down every few miles, be a darling on the next day, but nothing would make me part with my T5 Classic.

Nippy as hell, especially with the extras I've added (over £1000 worth so far). It sets you apart from the other plastic scooters that you see nowadays.

Only bettered in style by the Lambretta range. However it's a lot more reliable and although the scooters and parts are cheaper, you'll still feel it on your wallet for the quality items.

Silly prices now required to buy a decent model, however, there are plenty about.

Look for rust around the centre pan and on the front mud guard.

Also check the serial numbers match if buying second hand.

Paint quality is not that good either from the manufacturer.

Plenty of custom bits to add on to it, from racing kit top ends to chrome crash bars.

If you're looking for a scooter with a bit of style, yet will get you around and noticed, this is the one for you!
