1980 Honda XL250 review from United Kingdom
"Brilliant bike!"
What things have gone wrong with the motorcycle?
Nothing that wasn't my fault.
General comments?
Lordy! For a baby bike it had some grunt! That engine was a gem; loads of low down power made it a great off roader. The bike made you feel you were riding a much bigger machine.
Popping the front end up was so easy, and the engine made a lovely noise.
The bike didn't rev very high, and so changing gear was more frequent than desirable.
The head light... I think Honda basically forgot the head light and fitted a jam jar with a couple of glow worms in it! Dire, truly dire. I recall revving the engine on a country lane one night in order to read a sign post. All part of the fun I suppose.
Huge fun!
