1997 Harley-Davidson FLHTCUI Ultra Classic Electra Glide review from United States of America
"It has been a good touring bike"
What things have gone wrong with the motorcycle?
Tour Pack (trunk) latches seem to last about 5000 miles.
Even though the engine is "rubber isolation mounted".. it's still a Harley and every now and again I find fasteners loose.
I had a rear rocker box oil leak at 23000 miles.
Head temp sensor went out at about 30K.
General comments?
I've put close to 40000 miles on this motorcycle and all in all it's been a pretty good bike.
It's my second Harley and I ride within my and the bike's limits. It's big and, relative to other bikes, slow. If you want a bike that will do 100 miles an hour all day long, buy a BMW K1200LT or a Gold Wing. Harleys just won't tolerate that kind of riding without spending a lot of time in the shop. I like to cruise at 75 mph on the interstate, the bike seems perfectly suited for that.
