1980 Yamaha IT175 review from United States of America
"Great bike for an early rider"
What things have gone wrong with the motorcycle?
Had the carb rebuilt, when it started pouring out gas from the expansion chamber, when I tried starting it.
The petcock elbow would fall out, pouring gas onto the engine. Easy fix.
Replaced the gas cap after it cracked.
Replaced the original rear tire from 1980, after it blew out on a trail.
The gas tank started to form a yellow porous change in the plastic from the original blue. Took care of it with some Plastic-Renew.
Flipped it backwards goin up a trail, and broke the number plate and speedo.
General comments?
This was an excellent bike for $850 for a 14 year old kid. It was fast enough, really light, and easy to ride. Faster than my friends '84 XR 250R, but that could have just been me. I would love to have another one to play around on if I could find one.
