1987 Kawasaki GPz550 review from United Kingdom
"Brilliant usable classic that's loved by all"
What things have gone wrong with the motorcycle?
One coil failed at 44,000 miles, but it was an easy fix for about £80 for a pair of brand new ones.
Other than that, absolutely nothing. When it was owned by my father before I had it, he had the uni-trac bushes replaced once.
General comments?
Excellent bike, especially for smaller riders, feels strong and gutsy at the top end, the mid range power dropped off slightly when a 4 - 1 exhaust was fitted, but it's still enough, 6000 - 10,000 rpm acceleration is excellent for a bike of its era.
As my bike has been restored, it attracts many comments, people just love it, especially as it was many peoples first big bike after passing their test.
