1993 Suzuki GSX1100G from United States of America - Comments

"Great bike. Wish Suzuki would have kept making it so that aftermarket accessories would be around."

What things have gone wrong with the motorcycle?

Only real problem was steering head bearings. Replaced them after I'd ridden less than 500 miles (bike had 37000 miles when I bought it).

General comments?

Very smooth, almost vibration-free bike. Love the low maintenance, clean shaft drive.

Heavy bike at over 600 lbs wet, but no problems in traffic. Has a solid "planted" feel at highway speeds and on city streets.

Gobs of torque, even at low speeds... no need to rev the engine for the take off in first gear.

I hired a 'G' for a trip round NZ a couple of years back, and agree with all the comments made. An utterly solid and stable machine with plenty of power on tap, no breakdowns, no dramas.

With a fork rake like this, there no suprise about the stability of this Suzuki. I've had a VX 800 in the past with a similar geometry of fork and it handle like a train in straight line.

My Fully Faired 1991 GSX1100G has just over 59000 miles on it and I am now looking for steering head bearings for it, this seems to be a common problem. Other than the steering head bearings, the only other problems have been with the handlebar switches, which I have had to rebuild a couple of times.

Rock solid transportation used for many years for daily commuting with several long trips for recreational purposes.

The best modification was a GSXR1100 Stage one jetting kit for the carburetors. This modification took away all of the cold bloodedness until the after market needles wore out and the dealer put back in stock parts. I don't know if it's the replacement parts or just a poor mechanic, but it is once again just as gold blooded as it was when it was new. Wish I could find another good racing tuner here in the bay area. My favorite mechanic died of cancer a few years back. And the annual tune ups have been hit or miss every since.

I have 3 GSX1100G's.

1st one has over 86,000 miles. Never let me down. Uses no oil, only tires, batteries, tuneups ever needed. Gets 38-50 mpg depending on speed. Need to clean carbs and tank periodically.

Bought the 2nd & 3rd JUST in case the 1st ever wears out, maybe at 125k.

2nd one is a full tourer (full windshield and saddlebags), and the 3rd is a sport bike (sport windshield and short handlebars).

Replaced the cams on the 1st at 80k, but was in an accident causing reduced oil to the cams. Front oil line leaked, fixed by welding it. Fast and reliable, but like all bikes needs to be ridden twice a month to charge battery, freshen gas, lube seals.

I have GSX1100 four years now. Greatest bike ever made.. I've only changed the front fork springs and bought a Corbin seat. I get 42 to 48 MPH.

Just picked my G up last week. Where is the best place to get aftermarket parts?

Hello, I am in Canada, and I have a GSX1100G 1993. I'm wondering about parts and saddle bags, and also a manual. Can anyone tell me where the fuses are, I'm thinking under the tank. Also the start is hit or miss; I am thinking it's the switch. Any ideas?

Thanks.
