Swing-arm bearings worn out, resulting in the chain constantly falling off.
Fracture of the crankcase.
Gearbox lockup.
The bike is seriously quick, even compared to 2006 crossers.
The handling is very good, except when the swingarm bearings wear out, and the back wheel wobbles all over the shop.
I have taken the bike to many motocross tracks, and come home with nearly as many trophys, but last sunday I was racing against KX 125's, YZ's and KTM SX's. I was 2nd when "Bang!", the gearbox died. I got it home, stripped the engine down (very easy) and found out a crank had twisted out of shape (I believe this is because I slipped a little r/c car nitro fuel into the fuel (naughty me).
...are you sure... if can win on a TS185 you should be getting some serious sponsorship by now.
Made me laugh though, so thanks.
I have had my 185 for few months now, and it's been a lot of fun, but I have found that I go through spark plugs every 3rd ride, and the bike seems to find neutral up near 5th gear.
Other than that, I'm happy with it.
I have had two TS 185er's. A great and reliable bike, but not all that quick.
Great handling, but just can't compete with todays motocrosses, with or without mods.
Blimey.
If I could win races on a 1985 Suzuki TS185ER we'd all want one!!!, I'd better get my Honda C90 and give Valentino Rossi a run for his money.
Made me laugh anyway.
I remember 30 years ago when the TS 185 came out. My mate, who was a year older than me, bought one. It was a lovely red colour and was a lovely bike, nice and tall too. I just found out that SUZUKI still produces them and I want one. Only trouble is I moved to Turkey 20 years ago. So anyone, how much is one, and where can I buy it from? Don`t tell the wife as I bought myself a lovely Bandit 1200s last year, and she wants the garage cleared of all me other bikes. But she ain`t gonna win cause I`ll build another garage.
I am currently 2/3rds of the way through restoring a TS185ERN, this is what was wrong with mine!
Ignition coil brackets break off the frame (coil melts on exhaust).
Exhaust front pipe rots from the inside.
Swing arm rots at the rear underneath.
Rims rust (take the tyres off and check).
Seat pan rots.
Plastic side panels crack.
Chain guard disintegrates.
Fork stanchions pit at the top (not under the gaiters!).
Chrome headlamp bezel rusts from inside.
Speedo cable usually snaps at the drive gear end.
Most of the parts are still available from Suzuki, so be careful what you pay on eBay!
I m Bilal Amjad from Pakistan...
