After trying to undo my tappet covers on my T80, I found myself filing a chamfer on o/dia and hit with a screw driver with little success on 1, so I need a new one.
I had a 1984 Townmate for a loan in the 90s when my Honda Cub 90 was stolen, and I can tell you I didn't want to give it back!! I'm trying to get one for the last couple of years, but there s only 7 registered in Ireland!! (I work in the motor vehicle office). I'd be happy if anyone in Eire or the UK has one for sale. I can be contacted at shaypigeons@hotmail.com
Just bought a T80 off eBay, to use for work. It's in good condition, hardly any rust anywhere. It's been through Portugal and Spain, admittedly the previous owner had it strapped to the back of his camper van at the time, so it's actually done 5000 easy miles.
First registered in 1999; yes I thought he must mean 89, but no it's 99, so I guess it must be one of the last ones.
Didn't start too well after I got it home, but it had been standing couple of years, so drained the tank and put fresh fuel in, oil change, valves and cam chain set, clutch too, now she starts pretty much first time every time and ticks over like a swiss watch as they say!
Sailed through the MOT, a bit embarrassed when I filled her up first time after going to work and back for a week, pulled in the filling station and could only squeeze £2.90 in tank, came out at 110 mpg!
She only does about 45-47 flat out though, but the shaft drive is great.
Just bought it to go to work, but somehow you start to get interested in them, or I do. Might strip the wheels out before the British winter starts it rusting, and will waxoil it to make it last longer.
Noticed there aren't as many parts available as there are for the C90's on eBay. Anyone know good source for spares?
