It is real easy to remove decals from this bike. Just take 14-20 fishing line and easily draw it under the decal, either on the tank or on the battery cover. The plastic will slide under the decal and come off easy.

05 V Star 1100 Custom.

My bike really whines on deceleration. Has anyone else noticed this, and if so, what is the fix?

The dealer just replaced shaft gears and the problem is still there.

Original problem was the shaft nut came loose in the motor (common problem from what I understand).

Any help would be great.

Thank you.

I have a 2001 Vstar 1100 and the emblems on the tank and chrome cover are held on by two sided foam sticky tape. It is easy to take off; just pull gently until it starts to give. The Yamaha emblem on the rear fender will scrape off easily with a razor blade.

Just started riding again after a 28 year absence, and I just picked up a 2001 1100 V-star Classic. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good book on motorcycle repairs and maintenance. I'd like to do my own basic repairs, etc... Thanks in advance.

Haynes repair manuals are very good. Step by step with illustrations and pics. The one I found is for 97-05 650 and 1100 V Stars (I have an 02 1100).

My bike will only run with the choke in. Open it, it dies. Crack the throttle it dies. Any help. I need it now. Just purchased this bike and would like to ride it.

I had the same problem with my 2000 Vstar 1100. It started running rough and I had to leave the choke on. Turns out one of my young sons wants to be a mechanic when he grows up and had been fiddling with any knob he could. :) I just needed to reset the carb mixture (he had turned it several times) and it fixed it right up! Idles fine and and fixed the rough issues. It's located on the right side pointing down from the carb and it has a small black turn knob. I started the bike and then set it to where it would idle with the choke off after it was warmed up. Ride Safe!

I own a 01 V Star 1100 Custom. It kicked out of gear on me and I put it back in gear, I drove about another 5 miles or so and down shifted for a stop sign. When I went to put it in gear, it took me 30 minutes to get it in 1st gear. I brought it home and now can't get it in any gear. Any advice will be helpful. LOST IN BRAZORIA COUNTY, TX.

I have a 2004 V-Star, and I had the problem with it only idling with choke on. On a whim I started it up with full throttle held down, and it backfired a couple of times and roared into action. I haven't had any trouble since.
