2020 Kymco Agility 50 from Greece

Summary:

Reliable scooter, does its job very well

Faults:

The truth is, the motorcycle itself has very few problems.

However, the most notable issues are idling problems and stalling. Dirt in the carburetor or poor fuel quality can cause unstable idling, jerking, or stalling when decelerating.

If the motorcycle won't start, it's usually due to a blown fuse or a dead battery. Fortunately, it includes a kickstart for these emergencies.

The fuel purge valve or filter may become clogged, preventing gasoline from flowing down from the tank.

General Comments:

The Kymco Agility is a practical and simple scooter, the perfect utility vehicle, designed to satisfy the user looking for a two-wheeled vehicle that can be driven with a moped license but without a motorcycle license. It also boasts an extremely competitive price compared to other scooters of the same size.

As for the engine, it's air-cooled and fed by an electronic carburetor, allowing it to meet Euro 4 emissions standards. It delivers 3 hp and has electric start, but also a kickstart lever, which is very useful in case the battery fails. This engine also stands out for its extremely low fuel consumption of 2.1 l/100 km.

Being so compact and lightweight (97 kg), it features a front disc brake (180 mm) and a rear drum brake—a simple yet fully effective setup for a vehicle of its type.

Its 12-inch wheels are standard on smaller-displacement scooters designed exclusively for urban use, as they provide maximum maneuverability and require minimal steering effort. Indeed, if there's one thing that characterizes the Agility 50, it's its ease of handling, stemming from its very compact overall dimensions.

For a basic scooter, it's relatively well-equipped. It has a flat floorboard for added practicality, as you can carry bags on it using the hook located under the handlebars. Furthermore, there's enough storage space under the seat to accommodate a jet-style helmet, though not a full-face one.

It's a great little motorcycle for city riding, recreation, and commuting. It's fuel-efficient, inexpensive, and rarely has serious problems.

2006 Kymco Agility 50 from United Kingdom

Summary:

Good value

Faults:

Speedo cable broke.

Had to change the battery.

General Comments:

I think this is a great little bike. Bought it for £65.00 out of a front garden in 2011. Had to have the CDI unit I think it's called changed and get a new MOT. Since then all I have had is the metal stand broke, but got a pal to weld it.

The speedo cable packed up; got one off eBay for 11.00. And had to change the battery as the electric start was slow. But totally reliable, and I think it's a quick little bike for a 50cc. It has passed the last 4 MOTs without any advisories.

Well pleased with this bike, and if I was to replace it, I would have no doubt in getting another one.

2012 Kymco Agility 50 from United States of America

Summary:

A great all around family scooter

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

Great for small roads, beginners and doing local errands. The front brake is almost too good for beginners. The gas mileage is well over 100 MPG!

2010 Kymco Agility 50 from Serbia

Summary:

Smart choice

Faults:

When scooter is driven for about 20 minutes, the engine is cutting off and unable to start again for 5 - 10 minutes. This was because a vacuum 'T' shaped tube was loosing rigidity due to engine warming. Replaced under warranty.

Exhaust is rusting very quickly, but only because I drove it on a road where anti-ice salt was poured.

Carburettor jets clogged very often and needs cleaning (low quality petrol). Removing and cleaning the carb is simple and easy, but I'm thinking of installing a second fuel filter.

General Comments:

This scooter ideal for city commuting, but not for trips more than 10 km long.

Driving position OK, but gives me lower-back pain after 30 minutes.

Seat material is average, and sliding body forward when braking.

Steering handle positioned low, and sometimes I press the horn button with my left knee.

Awkward ignition key position. I'm afraid I might break it with my right knee.

Useful rear seat-backrest.

Underseat storage compartment enough for essential toolkit, XL-size jet helmet (or M-size full-face) and some other small things.

Very good build quality.

Central display gives you basic info: speedometer, kms traveled, fuel gauge, turn signal and high beam indicator.

Factory installed tyres are good for dry weather, but not for wet, where I found the scooter unstable, driving it across pedestrian crossings and other horizontal signalization.

Good and easy to use the central stand, but the side stand is going back to its original position, so it needs extra attention.

Average performance, but that's expected from 50cc GY6.

Driving uphill decreases speed significantly.

Top speed at flat road 55 km/h (c.v.t. smooth pulley joint and carb. jet (82 - orig. 80) replaced).

Could do more by de-restricting c.d.i.

Fuel consumption is 2.5 liters/100 km constantly.

Cheap and accessible maintenance parts, and simple to work on.

Good value for money paid, and it comes with 3 years unlimited kms warranty.

Cheap insurance and tax exempt (at least in Serbia).

I would recommend it as a basic, urban form of transportation with moderate performance.
