2006 Harley-Davidson FLHTCUI Ultra Classic Electra Glide review from United States of America
"Best yet... two thumbs up"
What things have gone wrong with the motorcycle?
No really problems I would think of as such. Lots of folk complaints that I think are misunderstandings...
Heat of course... it's air cooled, what would you expect? Go faster. Seriously though, Harley has tweaked with their mapping and I'm hearing much less about it now. Coupled with good synthetic oil like Amsoil or Mobile One, and it's a non-issue.
The 6 speed transmission was also a complaint for 5 gear rattling. This is not really a problem per se, but a symptom of the design. Straight cut gears are stronger... which they went with, because they cut the gears to be lighter. The down side is gear slap, which causes this turbine like sounding flutter. Good synthetic gear oil like Mobile1 or Amsoil quiets it down to be virtually unnoticeable.
Also this engine is adverse to dogging. You have to keep your rpms up.
Only real complaint is the chintzy head set that comes with the bike. You cling onto the side of your helmet and plug into the stereo/cb/intercom. Go with J&M... very big improvement.
General comments?
Great smooth ride, that makes ones soul boil with the rumble.
The 6 speed transmission was due... makes getting speeding tickets much easier for those having issues with that.
This bike has some serious legs, it just doesn't ever want to stop. With 96 cubic inches it has much improved giddy up for passing, merging, and making it over the mountain passes.
I just don't have anything to say bad about this machine, except for that it really makes you hate bad weather. Wish I could have one in each color.
