1998 Yamaha Road Star Silverado review from Canada
"Fantastic, H D's worst nightmare, Bigger, Badder, Reliable!"
What things have gone wrong with the motorcycle?
Speedometer fogged up. I paid $16.00 for a replacement double pane one. Recalled, but dealer would not cover...
General comments?
Superb styling and comfort. Kind of dumbed down engine compared to the Warrior (same engine) but with the addition of long shots, Big Air Kit, and re-jetting, it comes alive. Tons of torque for hauling the wife and I with trailer on long 1700Km trips.
The Road Star is very acceptable on fuel economy given it's "Battering Ram" aerodynamics and is an ULTRA reliable machine. Fit and finish are almost impeccable and after market add-ons are plenty full and relatively cheap by comparison. 1999 had only 1 recall on plastic spedometer cover, and NO recalls on drive-train what so ever. All you do is add gas, change the oil. Oh, and wave as I ride past trailer queens on the way to the shop to get more oil and gaskets.
