2006 Honda CBF500
Summary:
A CB500, just better
Faults:
Leaking front fork, rebuilt myself, but Honda parts were shamelessly expensive. 250€ per fork tube (found 2 for 180€ from a polish manufacturer), 90 € for the bushings, 50€ for the seals.
It was previously owned by a driving school, so has had a tough life. First to second crunches, if you do not preload the shifter lever, before pulling the clutch. If you do, no issues.
General Comments:
My first big bike, after having ridden 49ccm mopeds for years, so not much base for meaningful comparison.
It is a simple bike for the sensible biker. It goes well and stops well, has ABS for a bit more peace of mind. Handles predictably and is stable at high speeds. All the controls are thought out and the riding position is upright and comfortable. Looks inoffensive and sounds alright, too (180° crankshaft, so it makes patah-patah noises, instead of pah-pah-pah-pah). A bit too heavy for the city, a bit too windy for the highway. Overall happy with it.
