Faults:

The Bajaj Pulsar DTSi 150 CC is bad in the long run..

I have bought this bike around 1.5 years ago. Things went pretty fine initially without any problems.. But now after around 1.5 years or so, I am realising that the quality used in making the Pulsar sucks.. Its silencer is rusted completely... Now I have to invest around 5k... one of my friends also faced the same problem.

The indicator sucks big time... and the kind of material used in making them is probably I think the worst.. a small thrust is enough to break your indicator into two pieces..

Gear shifting is a genuine problem with all the Pulsars, and Bajaj haven't been able to fix this problem yet..

Probably there are many more problems with the Pulsar that I will come to know later.

So in all, Pulsar sucks big time in the long run.. Better opt for some other bike if you don't want to waste your money on a bike after two years or so...

And recently I went to Bajaj showroom to find the cause of the problem. They told me that I have to change the Pulsar's engine..

Faults:

The digital meter gives problems sometimes.

The fuel meter doesn't show the proper amount of fuel in the bike.

The auto stoppable turning indicators get struck at times, so I have to do it manually.

Also the sitting posture is not all that great. Even after using the bike for close to 8 months, I feel odd at times with the posture. The seat at the driver's end has gone a little out of shape, making the sitting posture bad.

General Comments:

This motorcycle is great when it comes to going long distance. I feel that the DTSi version has a comparatively lesser pickup from the older one, but the handling at higher speeds is definitely better.

I don't like to push the bike too much, but whenever I have tried pushing, it has responded well. It becomes a beast at that time, and overtakes all bikes on the way.

On hilly roads, it is able to pull the driver and pillion effortlessly. Though on more stiffer curves, it pulls only in the second gear, and the chain starts to become loose.

Faults:

The chain needs adjustment every now and then.

The front fairing has started to make a buzzing sound.

Rear gas-filled suspension thunks over bad surfaces. No problem if there is a pillion aboard.

General Comments:

I have tried three Bajaj authorised service centres so far, and none have given me total satisfaction. Now that I am out of the warranty period (which was for 2 years/30,000 kms) I might try out one of the new Castrol BikeZones for the next paid servicing. I have replaced nothing under warranty. Servicing is very cheap though, and so are spare parts.

The bike was especially great when bought. Very smooth engine and ride. The gearbox is not the smoothest one around, but you get used to it. They are especially notchy during the first start of the day.

The handling is good. And the bike is comfortable enough to do longer rides on it. The good fuel efficiency of 52-54 km/litre is a bonus, but they are not the best in its class figures.

Overall, the bike is fun to ride and a joy to own. It is very easy for beginners too. And even for girls and women, who shy away from this bike.

My mom hadn't touched a geared two wheeler in more than twenty years. All she had known before were those Bajaj and Priya scooters. But I explained a few basics to her, and in a few attempts, even she could ride my bike! She is all of 5'1 and doesn't find the bike too unwieldy. She has ridden it 6-7 times so far, much to the amusement of my friends and neighbours.
