1986 Suzuki LS 650 Savage
Summary:
A surprisingly able and well performing mini cruiser/commuter
Faults:
Fuel tap/reserve supply would not work.
General Comments:
Down sized because of increasing age and wanted to ride into my eighties (68 now).
Wanted a lighter,simpler bike to ride so I swapped bikes with my next door neighbor (I got cash too :) ).
It was the best deal I could have done. The bike goes great and handles well. Great economy, and since I have purchased an Air Hawk seat cover, it is very comfortable to ride.
Way easier to ride around town than the Virago, and handles our hilly, twisty roads with no problems.
The bike had been stored in a lock-up for 17 years, so took some time to sort a few problems out from that, and that is why the mileage/kilometers are so low for the year.
Plan on doing some touring in our beautiful country on it very soon. Can't wait.

I really enjoy my 2013 S40/Savage. I picked it up 2 years ago when I was 65. My Virago 1100 was starting to feel too heavy for me (I weigh 145 pounds). I loved the Virago and had owned it for 12 years. Prior to that I had a Harley Sportster 1200 which really had a tendency to vibrate, which is the only reason I sold it. The Virago is extremely smooth. The Suzuki S40 vibrates a little, but compared to the Sportster, the vibration is manageable and the bike is at least a couple hundred pounds lighter and easier to manage in heavy town traffic. The only mod I had to make on the S40 was to change to straight handlebar risers to push the handlebars more forward since I have long arms. The low height of the bike presented no problem for me at 5'10" tall.
