2005 Yamaha XVS1700 Warrior

Summary:

Very proud owner of a classic "IN-YOUR-FACE" cruiser

Faults:

Steering damper requires change - yet to do.

Snapped clutch cable - embarrassing at several intersections on the way back to repair, but what the heck!

General Comments:

OUTSTANDING! 3rd owner on buying privately, came from the USA with its 2nd owner. Has complete Star Products Chrome everywhere and Deep Maroon tank and guards with Yamaha flame detailing. Painted tank to include own style, tribal-influenced 'WARRIOR' on either side. Changed bazooka muffler (which still sounded great as is) to V&H Big Radius 2-2, swapped out air-box for AIS and added Bucky's twin stacks - now goes like Hell, and looks great to-boot!

Isn't a lot of these in NZ so still get a lot of "what HD model is that" queries, and the same here, now that I have it in Australia with me.

She performs extremely well, and in all weather - from Deep NZ South Island sleet and rain to Queensland heat. Always serviced regularly, even the dealer boys are pleased to see her in their workshops, and although she guzzles the gas like a blown V8, her throb and roar keep you tuned to the ride.

A little vibration through pegs (no floorboards here) and an extra inch throw-back on the risers would be nice, but then I'm an upright in the wind rider so stay forward and keep everything in-check; no slacking off on these roads. That gets tiring after a couple hours, but you just stop for a coffee or cold beer, then back in the saddle for more.

Would you buy another motorcycle from this manufacturer? Yes
