2002 Aprilia RS250

Summary:

Fast, swift, practically a street racing bike

Faults:

Shortly afterwards, the entire grease pump had to be replaced due to problems with the lubrication of the crankshaft bearings.

A critical problem is the wear of the exhaust valve bushing, which can cause the valve to come into contact with the piston. This requires strict attention, as I almost lost my piston.

It is a motorcycle that requires constant maintenance, and above all, patience. This does not mean that it is not reliable, but it is what you should know when owning this particular type of bike.

General Comments:

Depending on the type of rider, you can either love or hate this bike.

Hate it because it's not easy to maintain; it requires regular maintenance (like any Italian vehicle), and if you don't, it can leave you stranded at any moment. Plus, spare parts aren't cheap.

I'm the other type, because I love it. Owning a motorcycle is an intimate experience that gives you freedom and well-being, and the price you have to pay is the intense care you take of it.

The bike handles wonderfully, accelerates incredibly, corners well, and has excellent brakes. The engine is a two-stroke, a modified version of the Suzuki RGV 250, which influences its performance and maintenance. It's a fairly reliable engine and has a truly beautiful sound, but it's sensitive to oil, so using a high-quality synthetic two-stroke engine oil is essential. Overall, mine, which has 32000 miles, seems to have little wear, but like everything, it depends on how and where it's been stored.

Good built-in stopwatch, don't expect it to be up to par with the new generation of bikes, they don't even have electric starter, good old-fashioned starting! ; this is what's so great about bikes like this, they combine the ride (as if it were modern) with the beautiful feeling of owning and riding a retro bike.

Would you buy another motorcycle from this manufacturer? Yes
