2015 Honda PCX150

Summary:

Great city scooter with some freeway application

Faults:

Forks oil had to be changed and seals replaced.

Light surface rust on fork stanchions.

Tail light bulb had to be replaced.

Surface rust on handlebars.

Rust on some bolts.

General Comments:

I bought the scooter from a guy in Durban and it had some minor rust issues which I addressed by replacing the affected nuts and bolts. Surface rust on fork stanchions had to be polished off. Handlebars will require the same.

A great scooter with a sophisticated liquid cooled and fuel injected motor. Very light on fuel, I average 2.63 l/100 km which includes a healthy amount of full throttle freeway riding.

Perfect around town, enough power to get ahead and stay ahead of traffic. Narrow enough to lane split.

I do a fair amount of city freeway riding where the speed limit is 100 km/h. I'm able to cruise at 100 - 110 km/h but there's no power past that point. This speed 'restriction' means that I don't travel 120 km/h freeways as the scooter feels too slow.

Downsides:

You have to remove the exhaust pipe in order to remove the back wheel.

I don't find the saddle comfortable for long trips; it might be because I'm tall (1.87 m).

I would prefer a higher screen; the standard one doesn't offer much wind protection, but that might be because I'm tall.

There's a lot of plastic bodywork, so if you drop this scooter it's going to break or scratch those panels very easily.

Suspension isn't great, but reasonable enough for this type of machine.

Would you buy another motorcycle from this manufacturer? Yes
