2012 BRP Can-Am Spyder

Summary:

Can Am did a great job combining power, style and modern technology into one bike

Faults:

Fuel gauge was not close to being accurate.

Brakes squeaked loudly.

Paint pealed off the front shroud.

The bike had strong gas fumes after shutting off.

The brake pedal was situated to close to the foot pedal; when you rested your foot on the foot pedal, your foot would easily rest on the brake pedal and cause the brakes to be activated.

General Comments:

I loved the bike so much, that when I hit an 8 point buck and really messed up the bike, I took the insurance check and the bike, and traded it in for a 2013 model.

This bike is so well designed, my wife chose to get her motorcycle permit.

The mechanical adjustable windshield is the best thing on hot days.

The storage compartments are large and well designed.

Summary:

Fun and easy to handle

Faults:

The seat where you lift for the gas tank is starting to wear.

General Comments:

The motorcycle is fun to ride, but leaning over for a long ride is very hard on your back.

2012 BRP Can-Am Spyder

Summary:

Unique and fun!

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong.

General Comments:

This motorcycle accelerates like no other. If I don't ride for a week, I still get surprised at how much power this machine has. It stops on a dime; the braking system is phenomenal.

The only downside so far is the seat; it could be a little more comfortable, and the service and parts are very expensive. You need to be well prepared financially for any services you schedule.

Overall, I really enjoy this bike, and it still is so unique looking, so you feel special riding it!

2012 BRP Can-Am Spyder

Summary:

The Can Am Spyder is the most fun and safest motorcycle I've ridden

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

Outstanding. Acceleration is great, stability awesome, and it's the most comfortable motorcycle I've ever owned. I have owned motorcycles for over 30 years, and so far this one is the best.

Had a great time on it in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Much safer than the H.D. Road King I traded in on it, in my opinion.

2011 BRP Can-Am Spyder

Summary:

This motorcycle is a pleasure to drive

Faults:

Drive belt stretched and had to be tightened.

Gas gauge went bad, and the dashboard computer had to be replaced.

General Comments:

Both driver and passenger seats are very comfortable.

The motorcycle has good acceleration.

The ride is very stable, and it handles better in high wind situations than two wheel motorcycles.

Has great storage space.

Is easy to maneuver and to control.

Three wheels makes it unnecessary to support upright when stopped.

Reverse gear makes backing up easy.

2010 BRP Can-Am Spyder

Summary:

GREAT! Handicapped and still able to ride! That makes life GREAT!

Faults:

Everything has been great. No real problems from the bike's point of view.

General Comments:

Did aftermarket bags, Corbin, spyder bags had no style. Seat was changed, much more comfortable.

Added more lights, markers to make the bike more visible.

2010 BRP Can-Am Spyder

Summary:

I love this motorycle, and just wish I would have had the opportunity to purchase it years ago!

Faults:

The only problem I've seen is the brakes squeal, which I understand is an overall problem with this bike. They only squeal after the bike is warm, and almost at the completion of my ride.

Without putting a riser block on the front steering column, one is put in an uncomfortable position where you are leaning over much too far, which causes your head to be in a downward position.

General Comments:

I love the stability this bike offers.

The manual shifting is one of the easiest ones I've ever had.

I love the entire look of the motorcycle, and believe that oncoming traffic actually takes note of my presence on the road.

What a great feature to not have to put your feet down on pavement every time you stop.

The reverse works great, and the flashing lights indicate to other drivers what your intentions are, which makes backing up so much safer.

To who it may concern, I love my Spyder; it rides good, it looks good, and everywhere I go, people always ask questions about, so I say thank you to whoever made the Spyder.

2011 BRP Can-Am Spyder

Summary:

An exciting, different ride

Faults:

Parking brake cable came off spools. This was repaired under warranty due to it being a factory recall at 4,500 miles.

Throttle body had to be replaced under a factory recall, due to it causing an engine miss, at 4,500 miles.

Left rear saddle bag plastic hinge point broke off for no apparent reason. Seems very flimsy. 5,400 miles.

Road debris hit the rear parking brake spool, causing a cable to jump off of its pulley, making the parking brake inoperative at 7,500 miles. Easily put back on back home.

General Comments:

Machine handles well, but requires a learning curve to get used to it, especially in turns.

Passenger comfort is superb.

However, driver seat comfort is lacking on long rides.

Headlight configuration is superb, however I noticed that some oncoming drivers do not recognize the arrangement of the lights, causing them to pull off the road.

Semi automatic trans makes it quick off the line, and is very helpful on loose gravel, inclines, and wet pavement.

Very smooth quiet ride. Handles road ridge bumps well.

Front shocks are adjustable, with the rear air shock being adjustable on the fly with dash control and visual display.

Ergonomics of dash layout is good, easy to reach and see.

Has built in plugs for iPod's or MP3 players. Also has 12 volt plug in trunk.
