2014 BRP Can-Am Spyder R

Summary:

It is a delight as a machine and a joy for my wife and I to ride with confidence

Faults:

Except for one brief moment at 4900 miles, I have had no problems. When I tried to start it, nothing happened. I got the "key" symbol which signifies either I was using the wrong key or the key was defective. I kept trying various combinations, and after about five minutes, it started. OK since.

General Comments:

I am 75 and my wife is 73. We had three Goldwings for many years and loved them. As I aged, it became more difficult for me to control it when stopping -- too heavy for weakening legs.

Considered converting a Goldwing to a trike, but after test riding one, it was so "goosey" that I was afraid to go over 50 MPH. The Spyder has been the answer. It pulls the Can Am trailer very well (which is pricey, but worth it). I would like for the brakes to be a bit stronger, but it has been no problem as is.

I constructed a rack for our dog crate behind the trunk as our 15 pound dog goes with us everywhere.

As an aside, just as a machine, I really like it. It is engineered well.

I am not confident in servicing it as it is a bit difficult to access and has several unfamiliar steps. However, the 2014 model has made checking the oil convenient as compared to our 2011 model.
