2011 BRP Can-Am Spyder RS-S

Summary:

I would highly recomend this bike

Faults:

Absolutely nothing!

General Comments:

First of all, I would like to say that I'm 64 years old, 6' 4", and weigh 300 lbs. I also have health issues, such as spinal stenosis and Type 2 diabetes, which affects my legs.

I was reluctant to purchase a BRP Can-Am Spyder until I test drove an RSS/S 5 speed model. Man, did that change my mind! It was fast as a Bat-Outta-Hell and handled like a BMW! I purchased it right on the spot, and then added about $2500 worth of accessories (Hindle exhaust/custom leather seat/handlebar riser/sport windshield/Brembo brakes/fog lights/wind deflectors/Sport rack and backrest).

I wish I had found out about this bike a long time ago! Also as a a "Big Plus", my wife thinks the bike is wonderful!

2011 BRP Can-Am Spyder RS-S

Summary:

I would buy another one

Faults:

The DPS sensor failed within the first 500 miles. Turns out it was a recall from the manufacturer. I don't understand why the dealer just didn't do the recall before it was sold. Other than that... no problems at all.

The BRP dealer network in this part of the country is not that good. I feel like I have to drive across town 60 miles to use a dealer that I trust and that knows this machine very well. I've been fed a lot of bull by the other two dealers close by.

General Comments:

I have cancer and it has caused issues with my back, so I couldn't safely ride a 2-wheeler. I investigated several models of 3 wheeled motorcycles and decided on the Can Am Spyder RS-S. It allows me to sit at lights without the worry of it tipping over on me, and I like the way it looks.

It is a blast to ride, and with some of the suspension (heavier anti-sway bar) and fuel management (Power Commander V, Two-Brothers Dual Exhaust) changes I've done, it will keep up with my buddy's sport bikes in all types of riding, including the curves. It's very stable and now feels like it's on rails in the corners.

I've changed the seat, added risers and added floorboards to make it more comfortable for me, but the way it comes from the factory is OK too. Like I said before, I have back issues, so I just made it more suited to me and the type of riding I do most often

2012 BRP Can-Am Spyder RS-S

Summary:

Very happy, it's a great ride

Faults:

Had a water pump leak.

General Comments:

I'm very happy with my RS-S Spyder. It's fast, comfortable, very stable, and just right for us older riders.

Can-Am need to have taller windshields, like at least 27 inches.
