2014 Harley-Davidson FLHTCUTG Tri Glide Ultra Classic

Summary:

Great ride, nice long distance machine

Faults:

Electric reverse motor needed replacing. I bought the bike used, was a dealer rental.

General Comments:

Great riding bike. My wife and myself went on an 18 day ride putting on 4500 miles. No problems. Great in the mountains, across the plains, interstates and back roads.

2014 Harley-Davidson FLHTCUTG Tri Glide Ultra Classic

Summary:

Great bike to ride and enjoy the outside

Faults:

No problems to date. Previous Road Glide 30,000+ miles, no problems. I did add a tuner from Harley; seems to be a little sharper pickup and gas mileage.

General Comments:

Due to my age, 78 years old, I felt it was time to change from a two wheel to three or give up riding. I purchased the trike in Mesa AZ, flew in, purchased the trike and rode it back to Idaho 1100 miles. It was the first time I rode a trike. After a hundred miles or so it felt pretty good, and now I'm still getting more antiquated with it, and really enjoy the safe feeling.

I sure this will be my last bike, which I plan on taking several trips on the next few years, depending on my health, which is good so far.

Would recommend this trike to any person that likes to ride, old or young.

2014 Harley-Davidson FLHTCUTG Tri Glide Ultra Classic

Summary:

Harley craftsmanship as always is good and it is great for people that have leg problems

Faults:

There has been nothing that has gone wrong with the Tri-Glide since I have owned it. I bought it off a friend in Erie, PA that had purchased it right off the show room floor in New York. During the time that he owned the bike there was one recall on it for the stop on the front forks which keeps the rider from turning the front wheel left or right too far at speed. This was taken care of by the dealer from which he purchased it and there have been no issues with this since.

General Comments:

The reason we bought the Tri Glide is because my wife had broken her leg several years earlier and was no longer able to ride comfortably on the Heritage. Now when we ride together she has no problems mounting or dismounting the Tri-Glide. She is very pleased with the comfort of the passenger's saddle and is able to ride long distances without suffering any discomfort or pain in the leg that had been broken.

I find the saddle to be comfortable for short distances (fifty miles or so) when I have my feet on the floorboards and then not so much comfortable. But when riding long distances if I put my feet on the pedals I have mounted on the crash bars, then there is no problem and I can ride distances of over 200 miles in comfort.

The only other problem (?) I have found with the Tri Glide has to do more or less with the surface of the highway. As long as the roadway is smooth there is no problem with the ride, but if there are rough spots or multiple potholes (small ones) in the road, I find it almost impossible to keep from hitting them with at least one wheel and then the ride is similar to that of riding in a log truck.

I still like my Heritage the best, but for rides with my wife the Tri-Glide can't be beat, and it makes her happy and that is all that counts.

2014 Harley-Davidson FLHTCUTG Tri Glide Ultra Classic

Summary:

All the problems have been addressed and we love the trike

Faults:

Had issues with the compensator making a noise.

Running lights switch failed.

Air leak in the rear air shocks.

General Comments:

Rear suspension needs to be raised to allow clearance for the exhaust pipes, to prevent dragging on dips in the pavement.

We love our 2014 Tri Glide; the only thing is it rides like an old farm truck. Put a lift kit on it that claimed to help, feel only a slight difference if any. Any suggestions? Canton, Ohio has some of the worst roads in the world!

2014 Harley-Davidson FLHTCUTG Tri Glide Ultra Classic

Summary:

Good, and at my age, I don't anticipate buying another

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

As a 76 year old rider, I find the Tri Glide to be more stable than the Ultra, especially in inclement weather.

The only negative comment I have is the difficulty in finding the neutral position in the transmission.

The lack of miles on the trike is due to medical issues experienced in the last year, which are being corrected. The long distance riding comfort was improved considerably with the addition of a back rest.
