2017 Kymco K-Pipe 125

Summary:

A good learner bike deserving its place as the cheapest bike sold in America

Faults:

In a year:

Ignition switch, wiring short, wires coming loose from things, like headlights and turn signals. Rebuilt motor due to piston ring wear/cylinder scoring. Oil leaks, and parts are hard to find, even for the dealership.

General Comments:

It's a cheat bike for passing the Motorcycle Skills test due to its 4 speed centrifugal clutch. That means as long as it's warmed up, it's impossible to stall in normal conditions.

It's a good bike for a taller rider who wants a 125cc bike for commuting to work in urban settings. Fun on back roads too, but not a hooligan bike as the clutch setup isn't good for wheelies and other "fun" things people associate 125s with.

Mileage is in the 70MPG range, and top speed is around 53MPH on flat ground with its 7 HP needing a downshift to get up hills at 45MPH or so.

Riding position is very upright and comfortable; very reminiscent of 70s Japanese motorcycles.

Bought this bike new for $2000, but later found its identical twin on Alibaba for $500 new, go figure.

Would you buy another motorcycle from this manufacturer? No
