2005 Suzuki C50

Summary:

Best overall bike on the market

Faults:

Warning light would flash without cause. Dealer replaced some relays to fix problems.

General Comments:

Daily rider for work and some mountain runs in the Colorado high country.

Very good value, and very pleased overall.

50 miles to the gallon, and average 125 miles per tank.

Good sounding pipes for stock.

Fun to ride and comfortable.

Many outstanding comments on the Limited Black looks.

My comments on the bad include a plastic rattle I can't find.

The drum brake works, but it really needs a disk in back. Mountain riding with my girlfriend (110lbs) on the back takes extra care for slowing it down safely.

The oil site window is the worst idea on the bike. Hard to check, so people won't attempt to do it. I have mirror mounted on garage wall so I can see the min / max marks when sitting level.

I agree with the comment about the oil window. I carry a small mirror in my saddlebag, and every few days after riding for about 10-15 minutes, I will pull it out and look at the oil window through it. It's about the only way to do it without having an extra person to help you.

All in all, I really like my c50. I traded a Kawi Mean Streak (2002 model) for this one. A lot lighter bike, more features (I have absolutely fallen in love with heel-toe shifters and the floorboards that come stock with this!!), and 805cc's is all the power I really need. Plus, having at or a little over 50mpg is really nice too (I averaged about 37mpg on the Mean Streak). Excellent value for the money!

2008 C50 (820cc) V-Twin and liquid cooled is an awesome motorcycle. 4.1 gallon fuel tank. 53-56 mpg. I've pushed it to 190 miles per tank.

I've put the synthetic Suzuki rigid saddles bags on it, a Cobra 17" sissy bar and a Suzuki windshield. Fuel injection and shaft drive makes for a smooth ride. Floor boards and the heel toe shift add to this comfortable ride.

I do not have a single negative comment about this bike. If you own one, you know what I'm talking about. If you are considering a bike, give this one some serious thought.

Agree with the original review. I purchased a C50 in June 08 and rode over 12,000km with no maintenance issues at all. Like the others reviewers, the oil window doesn't bother me. I followed the service manual for the first two services. The engine didn't skip a beat.

The bike fits me quite well. I'm 5'-10" and 180lbs. The bike has enough power to ride two up in the very fun hills of Quebec. It handles well on the back roads. I found the brakes to be sufficient, but I may upgrade these in the future.

The C50 handles the highway OK but the engine really starts working at 110 km/hr. The engine has lots of passing power at that speed, but the engine starts to rattle if I go faster. But then this is a cruiser not a racing machine.

In summary the C50 has worked out well for me, and I'll be riding it for seasons to come.

I have an 05 and I love it. The oil level can be checked by looking down at the reflection of the sight glass on the stock pipes, not sure about aftermarket pipes.
