2006 Yamaha FZ1

Summary:

Great bike; it's too bad Harley didn't realize what they had before they cut Buell

Faults:

A wire went bad, and caused the fuel pump to not work. Was a warranty repair.

General Comments:

Was a great bike overall. Had plenty of torque, and the low end power one would expect from a big v-twin.

Was very uncomfortable for long rides.

Great around town.

2006 Yamaha FZ1

Summary:

A great bike, but needs to be able to do long rides

General Comments:

I am very disappointed that Yamaha made the following changes to the FZ1: reduced the gas tank from 5.6 to 4.75, moved the riders pegs 1 inch back and up half an inch, lowered the handlebars 1 inch.

I love riding the bike, but the extended rides would have been much more enjoyable if Yamaha would have left well enough alone.

I am glad the FZ1 is now fuel injected, and it handles like a dream now that 51 percent of the weight is on the front end.

Yamaha should realize that a lot of buyers of FZ1 want to put some serious miles on the bike, and the aforementioned changes deter long rides.

Overall a great bike, and plenty of power and a blast to ride.
