2008 Baja Motorsports DR70 from United States of America

Summary:

Perfect inexpensive bike for a beginner

Faults:

This is my son's first bike. He loves it. The only things that have gone wrong are the result of his minor accidents.

General Comments:

Excellent bang for the buck from my son's perspective. He's almost finished one season and it's almost served its purpose (it will when he out grows it).

PS It does an honest 40 mph+ with a 90 lb rider. I measured it going side by side with my Honda street legal motorcycle. Since I wrote the last review, the bike's been dropped a few times, but still fires on the first kick. The only things we have done were to replace the air filter with an UNI regular oil and spark plug changes, and basic care (adjust the chain, tire pressure, brakes, etc). I expected to be putting it out in the trash after a year, but 2 1/2 years later, it still runs like a champ. We even had a few 180 lb adults race it around the backyard in what we call a mini moto course, and it still held together.

Summary:

Great bike for the money!

Faults:

Per the instructions I received with the bike, I had to double check the bolts and spokes to make sure they were tight. I needed to use thread lock on some of them because they would not stay tight. Easy fix!

The threads on the gas cap make it difficult to put back on. Does not leak, just takes a minute and some patience to get it on without cross threading it.

The air filter is not protected from the elements (water and dirt) I replaced it with a oil breather with a washable filter and a chrome cover that helps protect it.

The dealer that I purchased the bike from was not a motorcycle shop, and the assembly was very poor quality. I had to adjust everything on the bike (brakes, throttle, shift lever, etc.)

General Comments:

This is a good bike for someone with a little mechanical ability. Had it been assembled properly from the beginning, I would not have anything bad to say about it.

My 8 year old loves it, and it will be big enough to last him a few years.
