Faults:

The crankshaft sensor fails when it heats up, causing a cylinder to cut out or preventing the engine from starting.

The pressure sensor or sending unit often exhibits minor leaks.

Desynchronization causing irregular running at low speed.

Sensitivity in connectors and wiring.

It's a good motorcycle, but it requires a lot of maintenance; the timing belts must be replaced on schedule to avoid serious engine failure.

As for Ducati's Desmo service, it requires costly periodic inspections of the valves and belts.

General Comments:

At first glance, the Ducati Multistrada shouldn't work: its massive adventure-bike dimensions and riding position, combined with street-oriented brakes and tires, ought to result in an unstable disaster. Yet it succeeds, thanks to an all-new design and suspension tuned for the street. It is tall yet sure-footed, with agile handling, though not quite precise or sophisticated enough to qualify as a true sports bike.

As a tourer, it is spacious and pleasant (albeit with a seat that is too narrow, a windscreen that is too low, and a fuel gauge that is overly pessimistic).

Overall, it far outperforms other bikes with an upright riding position.

The engine is flexible, user-friendly, and sufficiently engaging, though somewhat unrefined in terms of gear shifting and low-end response. With just 85 hp, it is not a pure sports-bike engine, which limits the bike's sporty credentials. It is a competent engine, but not an exceptional one. With proper and regular maintenance, it is a reliable engine.

As is the case with most standard Ducati motorcycles, the most exclusive accessories for the Ducati Multistrada are found only in the Ducati Accessories catalog, and even basic items like the passenger seat and center stand are sold separately. That said, the Multistrada 1000DS features an elegant instrument cluster, and its attractive single-sided swingarm and under-seat exhausts also stand out.

The rear brake is a bit soft, but the front one is excellent. Whenever I had to brake in an emergency, the brakes responded perfectly.

I love its originality and its ability to stand out from the crowd... in my opinion, the whole package is simply brilliant. It isn't perfect in the city or in slow-moving traffic, but out on the open road, it rewards you with a lovely "Finally, I can breathe and express myself!"

It's a real pleasure to ride, and thanks to its unique style (which I adore), it really turns heads. I would certainly recommend it to anyone.

General Comments:

This is a lovely machine. Very dynamic, easy to ride and easy to master. It feels truly solid and dependable.

The design is unique, and like all Ducatis, the material quality shines.

The loud clutch sound is very characteristic. Together with the desmo engine sound, the bike is an aural beauty too.

Meant to ride long distance on mountain roads, but can do in the city traffic too. It is quite pointless to ride on highways with this model.
