2011 Honda CBF600 from Mali
Summary:
Excellent for the converted biker. It delivers on its promises
Faults:
Wear on the steering bearings.
Turn signals malfunction; they do not stay in position when activated.
The crankcase covers are fragile and susceptible to damage from falls, which can cause leaks and also immobilize the bike.
Gasoline leaks in carburetors, often caused by faulty O-rings on the T-shaped parts that distribute the fuel, require disassembly of the carburetors for repair.
Overall, it's a very reliable motorcycle, but with specific maintenance points due to its age, highlighting the need to ensure that the electrical components and engine seals are in good condition.
General Comments:
It is a very reliable bike. Good for short fun trips, but not the fastest in the world. An amazing machine when looking for a daily commuter, this thing gets you anywhere you need to go.
As for the engine, it's not the fastest in the world obviously, but as a commuter it'll give you the needed head start at the lights. The gears are spread evenly and are very smooth. For highways it's revving a bit hard in the 6000 range, that sometimes makes you wish for an extra gear. But then again, the inline 4 needs to scream a bit.
Regarding handling and braking, it feels most comfortable between 3000 and 6000 rpm and has enough power to get you out of trouble. During braking practice, it stops instantly, as long as you don't brake recklessly (obviously). I'm 6ft tall, and this has an adjustable seat, so perfect for taller and shorter people. The seat is padded well and doesn't ache at all, unless you sit too far back on the seat which has no padding; adjust the seat for your height and this shouldn't happen. Super easy to clean and maintain
The cost per kilometer depends on your driving style. If you drive smoothly, the trip is economical. Follow the maintenance recommendation every 6,000 km and you won't have any problems. With 12,000 km per year, it can be a bit more expensive, unless you do the oil change, filter replacement, and other maintenance yourself.
With proper maintenance, it will outlast the rider. The build quality is very solid (it's a Honda, after all). There's no corrosion or paint chipping after more than 90,000 km. The suspension feels a bit soft, but it offers a good balance between handling and bump absorption.
