Summary:

Barko Lounger on two very fast wheels

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong with the bike as far as the manufacturer is concerned. Even the factory recall went without a manufacturer hitch. The mechanics however broke the front tire rear cowling, and refused to replace, it saying it came in broken.

General Comments:

The bike is fast, comfortable, and easy to maneuver. No muscle involved unless you trike it around. The performance is superior to any other bike in its class, and that includes many R Class sport bikes.

As for the transmission however, it really needs, no it screams for, a sixth gear. Gas mileage would drop to a respectable level, and the cylinders might stop producing micro dust particles from the rings (hold a magnet to the used oil the next time you change it) if it was being treated better at higher speeds.

It pulls a trailer with ease as well.

Fabulous

Faults:

Nothing so far, love the low cost upkeep. Wish the next model years come out with Bluetooth connections to the head sets.

General Comments:

Comfort; it's like riding the living room couch down the road, handling is superb. Will definitely buy another...

Summary:

Try it, you'll love it

Faults:

High cost rear tire replacement, Less than 8,000 miles with 90% highway riding.

Front brake light switch failed under 2,000 miles (replaced by dealer under warranty).

General Comments:

Perfect machine for the man over 50. Major transition from a sport bike. I must say it did take some getting used to sitting in a much different position, approaching and handling high speed turns. This bike does it all with comfort.

Must point out the fuel capacity should be larger; seems with all the comfort, you have to refuel before getting tired on long trips. Heated seat, grips, and foot vents, make my evening commute a nice ride, (60/50 degrees). I did spend the extra for a rear spoiler with LED brake light, wind deflectors, ergo cruise pegs, and LED fog lights for added comfort and appearance. I just hope I can last as long as this bike will. No regrets.

Update:

I'd give a lower number on handling, due to control at very low speeds.

Summary:

Just one great bike!

Faults:

I never had a problem with the "Wing" in the 30,000 miles I owned it. I put brakes and tires on it, and that's all.

General Comments:

This was my third Goldwing, I owned a 1200, 1500 & the 1800. The 1800 is the best of all, but they were all wonderful bikes. The 1200 didn't seem to care about curves too much, and the 1500 had to much of a "Buick" ride. The 1800 has the best handling and performance of all. The last leg of a trip, I put on almost 700 miles in one day, and did it in comfort.

The bike maybe a bit heavy, but that's what gives it the comfort. It excels on the open road, and may not be the best for short errands.

It's the number one touring bike in the world, year after year, for good reason.

Summary:

Needs to lose 350 lbs

Faults:

Nothing wrong - just sub par handling. I am looking to either spend 1K-to 4.5K on handling upgrades, or selling it and buying a BMW RT 1200.

General Comments:

Great on long freeway drives - just don't look for curvy roads - the front end moves so much it is not stable (I did not have this issue with either of my prior GL1200A's)

Nothing went wrong with this ride. Just ride till the tires are worn out, and change the oil regularly.

General Comments:

This is great ride and trouble free. Can't say that for the Harleys I've had.

Summary:

This is the best toy I have ever bought, and the most durable

Faults:

Headlights remained off after cranking, because the starter switch needed lubricant to fully release.

General Comments:

I tried a different brand tire each time I replaced them, and found Metzler to improve the handling characteristics dramatically. The bike was more responsive in tight turns and curvy roads.

The low mounted engine makes this a good bike for mountain riding, as it is not top heavy and handles well in the sharp curves. And the EFI system handles the different altitudes with no problem.

I put 6,538 miles in a coast to coast and back trip in 14 days, and had no problems at all.

Summary:

It is the best value for a luxury bike

Faults:

This bike is extremely comfortable, for me and my passenger, and I really like the performance on 87 octane gas.

The purchase price was very reasonable, which is typical of HONDA.

My neighbors LIKE the fact that it is VERY quiet when I ride by their house.

General Comments:

I will never own a different motorcycle, although I've owned about 35 bikes in the past 38 years.
