2016 Honda NC700 X from Ghana

Summary:

Pleasant surprise

Faults:

The bike had virtually no major problems.

The fuel pump failed over time, making starting difficult, but not difficult to run.

The other problem I had over the years was with the idle control valve, causing unstable idle speeds. However, it was something I was able to resolve easily.

Other things I think could be improved are that the windshield is too short, causing wind to hit the helmet and chest at high speeds.

The lighting is rather basic and could be better.

General Comments:

I bought the NC700 X three years ago. They had a low-mileage red test bike, and it's the one I really wanted to replace my CBR 600 F.

I was looking for a trail bike, or something more touring than the CBR, like the V-Strom, Versys, and now the NC 700 X. Just looking at it, you realize it's a very comfortable, tall bike with nice details. But you know it's 47 hp, and then you say, "Why doesn't it have 20 hp more?"

These 47 hp are deceiving... It's a bike with a lot of low end and a lot of torque, and comparing it to my brother's F 650 GS Twin, at no time does it feel less powerful (always within a rational use) or lacking in power... As for the famous ignition cut-off at 6500 rpm, (this was what worried me the most), if you don't look for it on purpose or try to give the bike a use for which it is not focused, you won't get there even close... As soon as the bike reaches 5000 rpm, you can change to the next gear without worrying, there's no need to reach 6500 at all.

I tried overtaking cars in several different gears, and it responds well in all of them. At 120 km/h cruising, the bike doesn't reach 4000 rpm. I was also surprised by the front brake, because although it only has one disc, it brakes more than the BMW's, a detail that my brother also confirmed when he tested it. I didn't try the rear brake. The bike is quite agile and the suspension responds well and doesn't vibrate at all. The only thing I didn't like much was the gear change, I don't know if it was because it was a test bike or it's normally like that, but it was a bit hard and noisy.

The front screen deflects the wind quite a bit at speeds of 130 km/h, although I suppose a taller screen would be appreciated on long rides. I really liked the false tank detail, not for helmet storage, but for things I'd carry in a tank bag on another bike.

In conclusion, an easy bike, on which you can have perfect fun, pretty (this is a personal preference), cheap to maintain and very logical for everyday use.

Would you buy another motorcycle from this manufacturer? Yes
