1998 Honda VT1100C3 Aero from United States of America

Summary:

Best looking bike Honda ever made

Faults:

Guide plug leak at 5,000 miles.

General Comments:

The 1998 Shadow AERO 1100 is one of the best looking bikes ever made. If they brought back the looks of the 1100 AERO with the 1300 motor, I'd buy one today!

Above average reliability with easy to perform maintenance

Speedometer pick-up failed at 34,000.

General Comments:

General maintenance items are easy to perform.

Maintenance costs have been lower than average.

Great retro look with two-tone paint.

VT1100 engine easily pulls two-up (bigger engine would be better).

1998 Honda VT1100C3 Aero from United States of America

Summary:

I would buy new one if Honda would offer it

Faults:

The guide plug leak.

The battery recall.

General Comments:

The stock seat was uncomfortable on long rides.

I really like the styling of the bike.

The bike would be better with more power.

I wish Honda would bring back this styling with a larger displacement engine.

2000 Honda VT1100C3 Aero from United States of America

Summary:

Very glad I bought it. Superb

Faults:

Crankcase freeze plug came loose at 32,000 miles.

Everything else has been routine maintenance.

General Comments:

The Dunlop tires lasted 20,000 miles! Of course, almost all my riding is on the Interstate.

Very easy to work on. Easy oil changes, easy brake changes.

Gets about 40 mpg. So by the time you need to stop for gas, that's about right for a stretch break anyways.

Very comfortable. Extremely reliable. Good looking. I always get complimentary comments on the Aero.
