2005 Honda VTX1300R from United States of America

Summary:

For the price and dependability of the Honda, I would recommend it for the budget minded rider

Faults:

After 8000 miles I'm glad to report that nothing has needed repaired.

General Comments:

The stock seat is very uncomfortable, and it was the first thing I replaced.

The fact that the valves are not self adjusting makes for a $600.00 dollar repair at the dealer every 4000 miles, or a 4 hour do it yourself job that is a real pain.

The long stroke of the engine, and it's single pin crank make for a somewhat rough feel during a ride. No vibration, just a rough feel.

There is a lot of "plastic chrome" on the bike as it comes from Honda, and this doesn't hold up very well, it scratches easily.

Can't blame the bike for bad dealers. My 2005 Honda 1300r is a great bike, have had 0% problems. I also didn't like the guy selling me the bike, almost didn't buy the bike because of the dealer, but wanted that bike more than I didn't like the dealer, LOL.

2006 Honda VTX1300R from United States of America

Summary:

The 2006 Honda VTX 1300R is a great bike for the money

Faults:

Had the steering bearings wear to the point that the ball bearings had to be replaced with roller bearings.

Had small leak on the head gasket at about 7500 miles, tightening of head bolts fixed leak.

General Comments:

While only having 1312cc's, this bike has greater torque and top end than the Harley that I owned previously. (Modified Harley Pan).

However the factory seat is very uncomfortable, and needs to be replaced when the bike is purchased.

Summary:

I would recommend this bike to everyone!!!

Faults:

No faults to date!

General Comments:

This bike is amazing; previously I have owned many Hondas and a Suzuki.

The bike handles exceptionally well, of course I can only compare it to a 1997 Honda VT1100 ACE that I owned.

Fuel mileage is a little better than expected and for this reason it gets ridden often.

Servicing the bike is straightforward and quite easy.
