1990 Suzuki DR800S from Portugal

Summary:

Dakar impression in single cylinder

Faults:

Crankshaft ball bearings worn at 90000km.

Final chain bearing shot on a long European trip, due to excess chain tension at 120000km.

Minor wiring corrosion problems.

Always had to look at the oil level.

Not easy access for maintenance, given the 2 fuel tanks.

General Comments:

(DR800S 1st model)

Great handling, looks and off road capabilities.

Weight and braking may be a problem if going fast.

Not too thirsty, and the 29 litre tank can last longer than your rear.
