1981 Suzuki FR50 review from New Zealand
"Good, cheap first bike"
What things have gone wrong with the motorcycle?
When driving along, the bike would drop down 2 gears; not a problem when in 1st or 2nd because it would just go into neutral, but when in 3rd, it would go into 1st (dangerous at high speed).
General comments?
Was a good first bike, that rides like it was 15 years old when I purchased it.
Very comfortable on long trips, with good handling.
Brakes were OK, but it would have problems if you ever needed to stop in a real hurry.
Fuel tank would last about 100km, not bad for 4.5 litre tank (approx).
Fuel gauge is located under the seat, which is a bit of a pain, because if you are going on a long trip, you never really know how much fuel you have left.
