2007 Suzuki GN125 from Mali

Summary:

Good bike for beginners, cheap and easy to use

Faults:

Sometimes the bike shuts off out of nowhere and won't restart.

It stalls and the engine sounds unstable, due to a crack in the diaphragm.

Being a 125cc engine, the top speed is around 110 km/h. They are agile motorcycles in the city but slow on inclines.

The engine suffers rapid wear if the oil degrades.

Consumes too much oil without emitting any smoke from the exhaust.

General Comments:

To begin with, it's a very easy motorcycle to ride, with a low seat height, a comfortable and natural riding position, a plush seat, and an instrument panel that includes helpful information such as the engine make, RPM, and fuel gauge.

When I start it up, using the choke if it's cold, I find it to be a user-friendly motorcycle again: minimal vibrations, linear power delivery, and very smooth throttle response.

Once in motion, it's a well-made, predictable, and very easy-to-ride motorcycle. All the controls work as expected; the accelerator, brakes, and clutch didn't need any adjustment and performed excellently throughout all these years.

In the city, the motorcycle handles very well, easily reaching top speeds on avenues and maintaining good response even in higher gears. I think fuel consumption in urban use, despite the constant braking, should be even lower than what I got.

On the highway, at 60 kilometers per day at speeds of 100/110 km/h, I realize that it's a motorcycle primarily designed for the city, but it's still a viable option and handles faster roads satisfactorily. Although it doesn't have much left in the tank.

The equipment is relatively complete for an older, smaller motorcycle. It has a center stand, gear indicator, fuel gauge, and even a switch for the lights—something not often seen on a bike in this range.

This is an ideal bike for those seeking a comfortable ride, with ample space for two people and even some luggage, such as a top box on the luggage rack. It's an affordable motorcycle for those looking to get started in the world of motorcycling.

2007 Suzuki GN125 from Chile

Summary:

Reliable little bike, cheap spare parts, excellent fuel consumption

Faults:

Mostly normal wear and tear...

- Clutch cable broke at 7000 km.

- Transmission chain replaced at 11000 km.

- Rear brake pads worn at 12000 km.

- Rear tire (Sakura, completely worn) replaced at 22000 km.

- Rear wheel mudguard almost broke right under the seat at 23500 km (welded back together, a friend of mine had the same problem with his GN)

- Speedometer cable broke at 24000 km.

General Comments:

The little Suzuki GN125H (version sold in South America I think) is a nice little bike, with cheap spare parts available, quite simple to repair (I service it myself)

It's also very good on fuel consumption, runs about 270 km with its 10 liter tank at full.

Very reliable, never lets me down. I have gone to the beach, the mountains, and go to work every day on it.

Great bike for starters, with low and comfortable seat, 5 speed gear indicator, and good handling.

However it lacks a fuel gauge, it's a slow bike, and engine vibrates a little at high revs...

Chassis black paint has peeled in a few places.

Don't you find the pricing for servicing is quite pricey?
