Faults:

Wet front spark plug: the design allows rainwater or wash water to pool in the front recess, causing misfires or single-cylinder operation.

The ignition switch cable suffers from wear or a voltage drop, preventing the engine from starting.

When lifting the motorcycle, the oil pump may stop lubricating properly, damaging the engine.

If the motorcycle sits idle for a long time, the injectors get stuck or leak fuel.

Screws and parts made of non-noble metals easily show signs of corrosion if not properly cared for.

General Comments:

The SV650 is versatile, affordable, and incredibly easy to ride (making it popular among inexperienced riders), plus, it is great fun for casual riding or even racing. Any rider will find something to love about the SV650.

The bike's handling is even better than its engine. Forget about sophisticated components like adjustable suspension or riding modes; instead, the SV650 offers an exceptional sense of lightness, precise steering, and reliable suspension and brakes.

It is undoubtedly an ideal bike for long trips. Its slightly relaxed riding position and smooth ride make it an excellent choice, yet the SV650 also performs perfectly on winding roads. Riders who are 6'0" tall might find the SV650 a bit cramped, but it’s not a major issue.

The engine is incredibly smooth and agile compared to other V-twin engines of the era (mid-2000s).

It's flexible and predictable, offers an exciting throttle response, and is completely reliable. It is very comfortable for highway riding.

Furthermore, the gear shifting is smooth (as is typical for Suzuki) and the clutch is light and easy to operate. The SV650 boasts an excellent engine in every respect; one that does not feel outdated even today.

The bike's build quality is acceptable, though some corrosion and surface wear on the alloy parts are to be expected if ridden during the winter.

Reliability is good, thanks to the SV650's simple chassis and a fairly conventional engine that runs exceptionally smoothly.

It lacks advanced equipment and technology; it has everything necessary, but offers neither luxuries nor exciting tech features. This 2006 model has fully analog gauges—no digital speedometer.

Despite being a basic bike with few features, it is absolutely fun, good-looking, and reliable. Mine is getting on in years, but you wouldn't know it—it runs perfectly!.

I love the V-twin feel & torque. Very quick, great braking, good handling.

Nothing to date. It has done 12000 miles and it is still tight as a drum.

General Comments:

Basically, the bike is pretty damn great. I have owned a Daytona 600 and a GSXR600, and although they give you more of a thrill when pegging it on a aggressive ride 1 time out of 50 (UK weather!), when using the bike everyday through traffic it makes a lot more sense - and you can still have a lot of fun on the fast runs, you've just got to turn the handle thing on the right a bit more.

Smooth power delivery, great handling and nice and easy to chuck into corners. With the usual mods of uprating the front springs, aftermarket exhaust and lower fairings (s-model) you have a stable, great sounding and good looking mid power sportsbike, which you actually get to thrash on the road.
