1999 Triumph Sprint ST 955i from United States of America

Summary:

The bike is pure enjoyment, and is ready to eat up the miles

Faults:

Not a thing has gone wrong.

General Comments:

This is actually my second Sprint ST. The first one was a 2001 model, which I sold when it had around 40000 miles in fear that it was going to turn into a money pit... man was I wrong. Shortly after I sold her, I purchased a 2005 model Triumph Speedmaster, which by the way is another great bike. I just really wanted another sportbike due to the ergonomics.

I purchased my 99 with around 30000 miles from the original owner. I was so glad to be reunited with an old friend. The longest I've ridden was about 400 miles, and did get a bit sore due to the stock seat. This bike gets better every time I jump on and ride it. I average 40-45 MPG if I'm easy on the throttle.

Acceleration is great. It's not the fastest bike out there, but it will lift the front wheel if you're not careful. The brakes also perform well, but you will notice a bit of fork dive during hard stops.

The panniers provide plenty of room for luggage, and I have never had an issue with them.

The grab bar is nice to strap things to, such as extra bags, tents, etc. If you are looking for a bike that will be cheap to insure with easy maintenance, these older 955 fuel injected triples are sure worth a look. I hope to get another 60k worth of enjoyment out of this amazing machine.

1999 Triumph Sprint ST 955i from United Kingdom

Summary:

Not as quick as you'd expect, but it's BRITISH

Faults:

Battery died after dropping the bike at a standstill.

General Comments:

Not as quick as you'd expect or want, but WHAT A SOUND.

I've put an aftermarket Barracuda oval exhaust on mine, and even with the baffles in, it sounds AWESOME.

The bike doesn't even compare to my Suzuki RF900R in performance stakes, but more people like the Triumph and it's British.
