General Comments:

The Yamaha FZ6 is the most perfect bike I have ever owned!

The best way I can describe it is this bike, is that it's so easy to ride it would make a beginner look like an expert riding it.

Handling is top; I can ride this bike above 100 mph and feel safe and secure, knowing I don't have to slow down for a hairpin curve, and knowing the brakes will stop me quickly.

This engine feels comfortable at 25 mph or at 145 mph. You don't have to over-rev the engine for normal highway speeds.

The seat and suspension is comfortable for long no-stop runs, and it sips gas (you can run it all day for 3 days without filling it up). I have been getting 63 miles per gallon.

This bike will out-perform any cruiser bike on the road.

I have an FZ6 S2, the unfaired version of the Fazer. Excellent bike! One of the best I have ever owned in the last 20 odd years... and I had a few. Very comfortable, including the seat, did a trip to France and back to the Midlands, Birmingham area two up, fully loaded (soft panniers, tank bag and top box) with no problems at all.

In over a year and just under 14000 miles, I had no reliability problems whatsoever. Fuel consumption is the only down side at mid 40s MPG. My previous Honda CBF 6 and Suzukis (2 x Bandit 600 & 1 x Bandit 650) were better on fuel, but did not have the same sort of performance. The build quality of the Fazer is by far the best (including riding through winter and bike living outside). Honda's build quality was the worst under the same conditions. With a little looking after, the Suzukis were OK as well. Bridgestone tyres lasted approx 7000 miles so far, with the rear just now to start squaring off.

Overall, a brilliant motorbike and excellent all rounder on my daily commute, touring trips and weekend blasts. The performance above 7000 revs keeps the bike interesting and fun, which most commuter bikes seem to lack.

Ari - from the Birmingham area, UK.

Summary:

Perfect bike for a rider who enjoys the ride itself

General Comments:

Best of everything, cooks like hell when you throttle it up, yet comfortable enough to ride for distance.

My only complaint is the gearbox isn't as smooth as it could be, but such a minor issue.

Summary:

Fantastic - and I think unfairly slated by some of the media

Faults:

Nothing so far. It has been completely reliable.

General Comments:

Moving up from a 400/4 (37bhp) to the Fazer with around 90+bhp was scary at first and the effort to make the front brakes bite was a lot different (mine is fitted with HEL brake lines).

I have had 'bikes off and on over the past 30 years, but this the the biggest, quickest and best handling so far.

I was a bit surprised at the seat height since - at 5' 8" - I can only just get both feet flat on the floor and I find the backwards rake of the handlebars somewhat uncomfortable on the wrists after 50 - 60 miles.

The digital rev counter is difficult to read in sunlight, but OK at night.

The 'bike is certainly fast enough for me and looks beautiful from any angle.

Hi mate. I have fitted Renthal bars to my Fazer; they make a big difference on the long journeys.

Summary:

It's like having two bikes in one

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

I bought this bike after considerable research, having set very specific requirements in terms of what I wanted. Mainly, I was looking for a bike that could be used for commuting, as well as for occasional longer trips.

The FZ6 was a pleasant surprise. At low revs in traffic she's extremely docile, but once you go over 8,000 revs, she goes like a bat out of hell. With a large tank and very good fuel consumption, the FZ6 has a tank range of well over 400 km.

The suspension does a good job of soaking up the worst of the bumps in the road, and the upright seating position makes for comfortable long trips. The stock seat, however, is very unsympathetic to your nether regions.

All in all, I think the FZ6 is an excellent machine. With its docility in low revs and plenty of power available in the high range, it is effectively two bikes in one.

If you're a die hard sports bike fan, or if cubic inches are your thing, it's perhaps not the bike for you. But if you want a capable commuter with serious punch when you need it, you should seriously consider the FZ6.

Couldn't agree more. Have owned this bike for over a year; bought it new in 2007. Best all around-do-it-all bike I have ever ridden.

Excellent handling (did constant 85 in most twisties, almost keeps up with my jixer), have been on several longer trips in excess of 400 miles, gets about 58MPG and upright rider position still allows you to ride all day without being tired out. I also have a 2008 Suzuki GSX-R750, and after a few hours I am ready for a break.

I agree with the fact that the seat sucks. If you want to make this bike a perfect 10, go get a custom Corbin and you will have a bike that does it all and will get you there comfortably. If you want two bikes in one, this is your ticket... it TRULY will do it all.
