2005 Yamaha Road Star Silverado 1700 from United States of America

Summary:

Incredible

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

I got this bike brand new. It is a big bike and came with lots of chrome. I rode it as stock for a couple of years and then had it customized without changing the suspension, ie: custom paint which was ridiculously expensive. Had everything done that would make it a show bike and it really does draw a crowd.

At any rate, once all of this was done I showed it once at Street Vibrations in Reno. That one week of showing it was enough for me to just want to ride it and pass on the showing.

It is a big boy bike and has been setup for my 6'2" body. I have ridden it to Boise Idaho, Lake Tahoe, Elko, NV. San Diego, lots of open road trips. It keeps up with everything. These are long bikes and the curves are more challenging than on a sport bike. It sounds amazing and the acceleration is first rate. It has a hypercharger on it and the exhaust has been tweeked. It really is a conversation starter. I took the back seat off so people would quit asking for a ride.

The driver seat has been modified with a gel insert and I can ride for hours. It is an amazing machine and I highly recommend it if a big bike is in your future. It is reliable and always ready to go.

2007 Yamaha Road Star Silverado 1700 from United States of America

Summary:

This bike rides nice and is very, very dependable

Faults:

First, the main drive chain went at 15,000 miles. What was explained to me is that the chain had stretched. I didn't have the extended warranty, so I had to foot the bill for the whole thing.

Second, at 20,000 miles I am now rebuilding the clutch, as I get ready for this season of riding. At the end of the riding season last year, it started to slip in the upper gears.

I do love this motorcycle. I have modified it a bit with a Hypercharger and new exhaust, but I am not happy with the two problems I just described above at so low mileage.

MAKE SURE YOU PURCHASE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY!

General Comments:

This bike rides well, handles well and is good for around town, across state or across country, with the 6th gear as an overdrive.

If you want more get up and go, change the stock air filter and exhaust.

The stock seat was very uncomfortable with my wife on the back. Changed that out as well.

Long legs? Highway pegs.

Doesn't your 2007 Yamaha Roadstar Silverado have a belt? Mine does.

8th Feb 2019, 16:03

Your bike has a belt not a chain, 5 gears not 6, and if you're rebuilding your clutch already, then you don't know how to use it. For some reason you don't know a lot about your own bike.

The Roadstar only comes with a belt drive and 5 gears.
