2002 Aprilia Rally 50

Summary:

Very fast, very reliable, very expensive, very economic, amazing when things don't go wrong

Faults:

I got the bike second hand. I have been riding it for only 4 months, and have clocked up 7000 kilometres.

2 weeks after I got it, the exhaust gasket snapped, but this wasn't a big deal, as I just got the sports exhaust I wanted - cost £110 fitted.

A fuse blew, but that was caused due to attempting to start on a flooded engine.

I crashed it; I had to get a new front mudguard, and front panels. Cost £250 2nd hand. Over £350 brand new.

At its next test, I need a new rear tyre and suspension. Going to be around £200 for these 2 parts. Very very expensive, but it is worth it.

General Comments:

The seat doesn't wear at all.

It is fast off the mark, and de-restricted it will hit 45, 50 with a sports exhaust.

It is very expensive to get new parts.

My mates crashed their Chinese imports; not as bad as my crash, and they were written off.

I have ridden it over 200 miles in one day, doesn't struggle with long journeys.

Handles well off-road also.

2001 Aprilia Rally 50

Summary:

A reliable workhorse

Faults:

The contra spring has had it.

The clutch sticks.

The exhaust blows a bit.

Only has a 3.5 litre fuel tank.

General Comments:

This scooter has never let me down.

However the previous owner abused it really bad and I received it in a very poor state.

I paid 300 pounds for it and have so far spent around 140. I am spending more on it as I don't plan to get rid of it for a long time.

When the transmission works properly it has pretty quick acceleration and it handles well.

It's a very rare scooter, I haven't seen any the same.

At the end of the day it gets me to work and that's its one sole purpose.
