1998 Ducati 900SS

Summary:

Amazing bike, but not a good all rounder

Faults:

The only issue was a faulty starter button. A cheap second hand replacement was easy to find, and cured the fault.

General Comments:

Incredible handling, massive grunt and very quick when you adapt your riding style to suit. The low bars, high pegs and dry clutch make it a nightmare in town, and it does get rather warm in traffic, where the exhaust pipe from the rear cylinder generates a lot of heat on your inner left leg.

Servicing is well within the capabilities of a good home mechanic, the cam belts in particular are a very easy job, and not one to fear. The reputation Ducati have for reliability is completely unjustified, however the reputation for performance and handling is spot on.

Definitely not an all rounder, it's very much a sunny Sunday morning machine. Commuting or winter use would not be a good idea.
