1994 Honda MTX 125

Summary:

Great bike, highly recommended

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

My MTX 125 is a fantastic little machine; it's very quick and I love it.

I bought it off an older bloke who'd had it for years and years, looked after it really well, and spent a fortune on it. It was up for sale for £1,300, but I got it for £1,000. I prefer this bike to a DT any day.

1991 Honda MTX 125

Summary:

Overall a reliable and nippy little bike for not a lot of cash

Faults:

The bike has been surprisingly reliable for an old bike.

The only problems so far was when I didn't ride the bike for two weeks, and the clutch seized up and the tachometer stopped working.

General Comments:

I paid a little over the odds for this bike, but it is in good condition for its age.

The bike is surprisingly quick at low speed acceleration, but runs out of puff above 50mph (it will do 75mph).

The equipment is good too with a liquid cooled 125 2 stroke single, Prolink rear suspension and gas adjustable front forks, as well as a hydraulic front disk brake.

Just a quick up-date. I've just done my test on the bike and it turns out 125 trails bikes are one of the best and easiest bikes to ride. With all that leverage, U-turns are a doddle and the tall seat height helps to judge the traffic.

The reliability has been very good, all I've had to do is fit a new rear tyre and front brake pads.

I have had an MTX 125 RWF since new in 1986, and to date it has covered around 9000 miles, It was ridden regularly until around 1989, then stored until 1995, ridden for around 3 months and then has been stored until no (2007). I tried starting it over Xmas, and it started first time... what a bike!!!

Hi, I've got an MTX 125 1989, and my gears are messed up; all I'm getting is 1, 2 and 3. 4, 5 and 6 are missing. I think it needs setting. Can anyone out there help me please?

Thanks :)

I have a 1991 MTX and it's a lovely machine to ride on and work with. It's a quick bike and keeps up with bigger bikes up to around 55mph. Mine runs out of steam a tad under 70mph. Parts are easy to find on ebay, and there are many on that site breaking full bikes. It's also fuel efficient and awesome on the trails. Mine is set up to ride on the roads as well as trails.

I have a 96 model. It's great fun and fast. It's also so reliable and easy to maintain. I love it.
