2003 Suzuki GSX1300R Hayabusa

Summary:

Fast, Fast, VERY FAST!

Faults:

Battery died at 3,100 miles.

General Comments:

A very, very quick bike!

It is my second Hayabusa and I love the size and feel of the bike.

I have owned a Fireblade, R1, GSXR 1000 and ZX12R. The Hayabusa makes the 1000 cc sportsbikes look like toys.

The seating position on the Busa is much better than the 12R in that the seat is lower and it make the bike feel more balanced. The 12R was top heavy with the high seating.

Yes the Busa is very fast; I'm on my 6th, the black and purple 04 gen 1 model. Had a gen 2, but it seemed to be heavier than the gen 1 and harder to get on its ear. I'm in my late 60s now, but was a race champion 37 years ago, so I know how to ride fast, but I just ride the incredible torque of the Busa for fear of being holed up in Her Majesty's Holiday Camp - ridiculous.

By the way I've had 3 ZX12Rs and I honestly think they are quicker, but very bad on fuel and very tall too. The beauty of the Busa I.M.H.O. are its intimidating looks, like an orca, its low seat height, massive torque, smoothness, good MPG, and the brakes aren't that bad like a lot of owners moan about; use the gearbox to scrub speed off like racers do; it's got a slipper clutch after all.

2004 Suzuki GSX1300R Hayabusa

Summary:

Comfy, and very very fast now

Faults:

Nothing, but the engine has been rebuilt due to the turbo conversion work.

General Comments:

As a standard bikem the Hayabusa is quick, but not untouchable. However, bolt on a Velocity turbo kit and say bye bye to even the Starship Enterprise (and your license if you're not wary!).

Once setup it will run 260 on low boost, and 320 on higher boost, or 400 on silly boost for demo runs, that's with it weighing in at around 230kg - you do the performance maths!
