2003 Yamaha XJ600S Diversion

Summary:

A great bike so long as you are not expecting R6 performance; if you are you will be disappointed

Faults:

The only problem I have had, the rear caliper stuck, but I stripped it down and fitted a new seal kit and it was sorted; not bad after 12 years of use, but I must admit I don't ride it in the winter, so she still has her original exhausts, and because I fitted a Scottoiler, she still has her original chain and sprockets.

General Comments:

The XJ600 is a very underestimated little bike; most magazine write ups don't do it justice, but if you are riding more expensive and faster bikes, the XJ600 will seem very bland.

If you are OK with the spanners, this is a very easy bike for home maintenance; parts are relatively cheap, and providing you change the oil and filter every year, the engine will go on forever. Nothing on the bike is complicated, I.E. no computers, just electronic ignition.

Braided brake lines improve the feel of the brakes enormously and are well worth doing, but if you have an XJ600, the brake lines should have been changed be now, as even the latest bike is now 14 years old.

Would you buy another motorcycle from this manufacturer? Yes
