1999 Yamaha YP250 Majesty

Summary:

Brilliant big scooter, highly recommended

Faults:

Sump plug rounded off... difficult to get off, but managed with blow torch... that's it.

General Comments:

Toyed for ages about getting a super scooter... so glad I did get one, never been so comfy, dry and safe riding in wet cold dark winter days.

Cheap to run cheap, to insure and quick from standing start to beat the traffic.

Huge carrying load space, brakes do feel good and gives confidence... but that sump plug was not fun to get off... just think someone was a little excited when it went on last time.

Would you buy another motorcycle from this manufacturer? Yes

I have owned a Yamaha YP 250 for 19 years. It is reliable and serves as my winter transport. I have a large Givi screen which keeps the rain off, so long as you are moving forward.

The oil drain sump plug MUST only be removed and tightened with a good socket set. To use an open ended spanner is to invite the problem outlined. Rust and winter salt do eventually attack the chassis. Keep an eye open for this.
