2002 Daelim VT 125 Evolution from United Kingdom

Faults:

It needed a lot of consumables replacing when acquired eg. battery oil etc.

General Comments:

I brought this bike off my uncle as a cheap runaround. He hadn't used it for 4 years and had thus been SORN and stored in his garage under a bike cover.

The bike was generally in a sound condition. The paint work was good and the only sign of corrosion was on the engine crank case covers where the chrome had peeled off, and the laquer on the alloy wheels has began to peel also.

This is a fantastic looking machine with lots of chrome and a solid alloy rear wheel. This does have a negative though as I spend hours at the weekends polishing all the chrome.

Performance wise it's a 125, so don't expect blistering speed and knee down cornering, but as a commuter/cruiser it's perfect as rider comfort is something this bike capitalises on.

These bikes are manafuctured in Korea. Daelim is a little known company in the UK, and parts can be quite tricky to find, but with a good look on the net you should find what you are looking for.

Reliability wise, all that's needed doing to mine was an MOT, which it flew through, and an oil change. Also when I got the bike, the front brake caliper had rusted up and refused to release without the help of a rubber mallet, which has been cured by taking out the cylinders and cleaning/greasing them.

Daelim use Honda engines, and in particular the engine and transmission used on this bike is taken straight from the CG125, so mechanical reliability should be second to none, given the CG's reputation as bomb proof.

Overall I hope this review helps shed some light on this cracking little bike company, who don't get the recognition they deserve, as people mistake them to be cheap Chinese imports, which they most definitely are not.

Would you buy another motorcycle from this manufacturer? Yes

Hey, a helpful review, thank you. I'd very much like to know more about the "Honda engines in Daelims" - I have a chance to buy a VT 125 for a good price, but the clutch basket is bust. I have had little luck finding a replacement, but if these are indeed interchangeable with Honda, it might be actually a good buy.

Thanks, Luka

I'm working on a VT at the minute. You can find all Daelim parts at koreanbikeparts.com. Very cheap parts, but dear on delivery as they're from Korea, but they usually arrive within 4 to 5 days.

Will a Japanese original Honda CG 125 fit in the Daelim VT frame?
