1982 Honda CM450 Custom review from United States of America
"Nice and smooth - rides like a 750, beats the old 450GS by far"
What things have gone wrong with the motorcycle?
Haven't had a issue yet, and it sat for many years.
Flushed the gas out of the tank, and put in the new stuff, and added a carburator cleaning solution. Seems to idle just fine. A little hard to kick over - takes a fews kicks, but then runs fine. Warms up quick too.
General comments?
Picked up this bike for about a grand $, its in perfect shape except for a dent on the tank and a scrape on the engine case.
Haven't got a chance to ride it much, but love the automatic (yes, this is the Honda matic 1982 CM450a version 2 shifts and no clutch involved). It is a big plus to have an automatic in traffic, and while waiting for the light to change green at a stop light on a hill, it saves your left hand pain as you're trying to let loose without rolling back..
It's quick off the line too. I think this could beat my 750 the first 100 feet, because there's no shift lag in between shifts of course, but after that it would lose for sure. It has a small windshield that keeps the truck blast down a lot, when passing them on the highways.
Can't wait too ride in some more on the mountain roads of Utah.
From my home in Cedar City, Utah.
