2006 Honda ST1300 from United States of America

Summary:

There's no sentence, only one word, and that's Awesome

Faults:

So far so good, this bike has been a dream to ride. No problems at all.

General Comments:

This bike is a dream come true. I had been shopping around for a bike for a few weeks, trying to find something sporty, but that I still could ride long distance on also. So while test riding a few different bikes, I came upon the ST1300, and after a ride on it, the search was over.

The bike was smooth as silk, the style is a total eye catcher to everyone, and all my friends on those Goldwings and Harleys can't stop looking at it.

So all I have left to say, is the bike is totally awesome.

Summary:

Engineering perfection... thanks Honda!!

Faults:

Absolutely no mechanical issues with this bike.

The tires are due for replacement because I just can't stay off of her.

General Comments:

Excellent handling motorcycle for its size. 650 lb base weight, but still handles like a dream at a slow roll.

The power is smoothly deceptive and it took a couple of months to learn to keep the speed down.

Honda has done an excellent job of engineering this bike. The electronic windscreen is worth its weight in gold... precise adjustment at any speed for perfect riding comfort.

I can see why this bike has developed such a die-hard fan base, and have no plans of selling this bike anytime soon.

Summary:

Won me over from other brands I favored

Faults:

It keeps burning up tires, and they need to be replaced every 10K miles. Other than oil changes, tires are my biggest maintenance expense.

General Comments:

I've been riding motorcycles since 1973, and I was not immediately drawn to the ST1300. I thought it was ugly compared to the other sport tourers, but lurking in online forums, I found fewer complaints about the Honda versus other brands.

I bought a slightly used 2006 a bit reluctantly, but found something I've never had on any other bike. It took me a while to realize it, and when it finally dawned on me, I had a hard time believing it. What is it? I came to realize that when I'm riding the ST1300, I never think about which bike I'm going to buy next... other than another ST1300.

2006 Honda ST1300 from United States of America

Summary:

Great handling, acceleration and brakes

Faults:

No, nada, nuthin.

General Comments:

Handles great, hangs surefooted in the twisties.

Great acceleration, hits triple digit speeds quick..

Brakes are excellent, the linked brakes just sit the bike down hard and smooth...

A mile muncher on the interstate... hard to keep it under 90...

A blast on twisties, loves to dive into curves and lunge out of them..

Adjustable windscreen is GREAT... can find a quiet spot no matter what the speed it is... body work keeps the rain off everything on you, except your boots..

2006 Honda ST1300 from United States of America

Summary:

Second to none!

Faults:

With over 32k miles on the counter, the only thing I've been in the dealer for (under the warranty) has been the high beam bulb. I'm now on my 3rd bulb. I always drive with my high beams on so as to let drivers see me better. No other problems so far!

General Comments:

The bike (although it needs a diet) stays up with most of the guys I ride with on those ricky racers (GSXRs and R1s etc.).

The handling is great, and the mileage is ranging between 40-45 (depending on that right hand).

I use it almost every day as my commuter, and have taken several 800-1000 mile trips with no problems.

The first thing I fixed was the seat. Instead of spending $500 - 600 on a new seat, I sent it to a place in Florida (Spencers seats) and spent $75 to have him re-shape and add a nicer foam... what a difference. There is a few bikes I had a choice of when I bought the ST, including the FJR, the Beemer 1200RT, and now the Connie 14... and after having the ST for the last year and a 1/2... I wouldn't trade her for anything else, (maybe until I'm too old for the twisties) then maybe a wing in my future... Truly a great choice!

2006 Honda ST1300 from United States of America

Summary:

The perfect motorcycle

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

Outstanding every day, from short commutes to long-distance rides.

Exceptionally friendly, and easy to handle at high speed or in parking lots. Takes sweeping curves and tight bends with equal facility.

Accelerates like a sport bike, with comfort that approaches the Gold Wing. No wonder this is the choice of European highway police (known as the Pan European over there).

There is a sweet spot at 100mph that makes you think you can ride all day at this speed without fuss. As close to the perfect motorcycle as you can get.

It's no wonder that you rated the ST1300 so high (all 10s) ; you owned a Harley before it.

The ST is a great bike.

Thanks for the review.
