1996 MZ ETZ 251 Saxon Tour from Denmark
A cheap and fun ride
Ignition was busted when I bought it. It was changed with another after-market I harvested from my other MZ. It started after 1 hours work.
Lubbed all possible spots, and changed the tires for winter use, and that's it.
Dirt in the choking device cost me half an hours work.
Cheap as hell. Got it for $430, and made the above mentioned fix on it, and changed the fluids.
It has the original battery that still lives, since it's a kick starter.
It wheelies easily giving throttle and fiddling the clutch, and is fast enough for commuting.
The plugs is the only issue, but that is just me being cheap.
Would you buy another motorcycle from this manufacturer? Yes

Bought a 1990 MZ ETZ for £350 from a dealer - did about 3K miles on it. You either like them or you don't, never really found it comfortable, but liked its agricultural character. Mine was a bit loud, bang, bang, bang - one of the tyres was made in the Czech Republic, which proved dangerous in the wet.
In the end I just couldn't stand not having confidence in the rear brake light, as the switches were so tricky; maybe it's my fault, but bought several different switches, and none lasted long.
Can't really recommend them, as there isn't much to commend in terms of running costs like there used to be. My current Japanese bike is more reliable, cheaper, and less of an embarrassment.
