2005 Yamaha V-Star 1100 from United States of America

Summary:

This bike needs to be redesigned

Faults:

Most recent that seems to happen to a lot of the V-Star line is the starter clutch goes out. Around $1300.00 to fix. Spoke to the dealer and they confirmed. Look out! Other that, the bike has been a joy to ride.

General Comments:

After about 2 hours of riding, the seat is uncomfortable. But acceleration is quick, and out does any Harley.

2005 Yamaha V-Star 1100 from United States of America

Summary:

The best bike for the money, period

Faults:

I have had nothing go wrong in over 22000 miles.

General Comments:

I have read that the seat is uncomfortable, but I disagree. I ride whenever I can, and find you need to get into shape to ride a motorcycle just like a bicycle.

In the spring, 150 miles a day kills my lower back and butt. By July I'm cranking out 400 to 450 miles of twisty river roads in the Idaho and Montana Rockies, spending 8 to 10 hours of saddle time with no pain at all.

I get 50+ mpg on the mtn roads, 48 to 50 mpg to and from work (25 miles round trip) and 49 to 51 when puttin on 2 lane highway at avg speed of 60 to 65.

I love this bike. It has been completely trouble free. I even get 10000 miles out of tires - just replaced my second set in October and I'm ready for spring. I can't believe I bought such a great bike for such an affordable price. I'm shopping for a 2nd one for my wife. We go out two up and it really cuts the acceleration (my only complaint) out of the twisty corners. I really love to lean it over, scrape the footboards and hammer the gas.
